Wondering what to do this weekend? Here’s the SG Lifestyle Team’s weekly round-up of FREE WEEKEND ACTIVITES TO DO IN SINGAPORE (well, mostly free) during Phase 3 as we try to adapt to a new normal while waiting for the current COVID-19 situation to improve.
This includes a mixture of virtual/digital events/activities you can do at home, as well as physical events/places to visit/attend. Nevertheless, please do your due diligence to do your part to stay safe.
Recommended Advisory Notice: Let’s play our part to Stay Safe during this period:
Wear a mask and see a doctor promptly if you are sick!
Wash your hands regularly and properly using soap and water!
1) Read: Family Tree Guide
If you happen to be the lucky few who are still visiting or welcoming guests to your humble home, keep this cheat list on hand and you will never forget how to address your relatives again.
2) Visit: Wan Qing Yuan
Otherwise, why not kick start the day by visiting Wan Qing Yuan and you will be greeted by the Double Prosperity outdoor installation featuring two large ‘Foo Dou’ Guardian Lions. Double Prosperity reiterates the belief that ‘good things come in pairs’ and for more prosperous years to come. The installation will be on display on the lawn of the memorial hall from 5 January to 28 February 2021, from 10.00am to 7.00pm daily.
While you are there, you can also participate in a contest by simply taking a picture with the Double Prosperity and share it on your socials to win exclusive museum merchandise.
3) Explore: River Hongbao 2021
Next, you can also hop by River Hongbao 2021 at Gardens by the Bay from 2pm onwards (if you managed to secure a ticket through reservation). See the Gardens illuminate with 24 life-sized kaleidoscopic lantern sets in the shape of peacocks, butterflies and the 12 zodiac animals, including the mighty ox.

In case you did not managed to grab the tickets previously, here’s a preview of some displays you might have missed.
Otherwise, to avoid FOMO, download and send your CNY greetings to your family and friends by using these stickers or even use a CNY zoom virtual background when you resume work.
4) Keep Fit: Singapore Sports Hub is Open
Feeling the itch to get out of home but almost everything is closed during the Chinese New Year? The good news is, the Singapore Sports Hub is staying open throughout the long weekend. Burn your calories by hopping by for a workout.
What’s more, take a 888-metre Huat Run around the 100PLUS Promenade (and be among the first 88 participants to receive an F&N festive goodie bag!)
Don’t forget to redeem your scratchcard after your complete your activities too!
5) Huat Goes Around, Comes Around at City Square Mall
Lastly, you can drop by City Square Mall for dinner. Here’s a list of stores and their operating hours over the long festive weekend.
You can also redeem these CNY freebies if you happen to meet the minimum spending. While stock last.
For movie lovers, you can catch a movie at GV!
Or if you support local, watch this movie directed by Jack Neo where the story continues with Ah Kun, Osman and Shamugam forming a political party C.M.I to contest in the 1988 General Election.
We hope you enjoy this week’s round-up of weekend activities to do in Singapore FOR FREE!
More importantly – stay safe and don’t say we NEVER share!
