Have you guys utilized your entitled SingaporeRediscovery Vouchers (SRV) yet?
Many have used them for staycations and food, but… …
How about exchanging them for a memorable and worthwhile experience that comes with a $20 Capitaland vouchers instead?
With the current pandemic situation ongoing, it is no doubt that everyone is feeling the same way –
WE ARE DEPRIVED OF A WELL-DESERVED HOLIDAY!
When possibilities appear to be limited, I was elated to find out that not all hopes are lost…
I was still able to “have a taste” of being overseas without actually leaving the country…
Sounds incredible? Read on!
CapitaLand mall is officially launching its FIRST ever experiential local tourism rewards campaign that allows you to EXPLORE your own country like never before while discovering new experiences AND earning reward points at the same time, which you can gain up to $150 worth of shopping and dining vouchers, too!
(Most importantly, this isn’t a gimmick!)
And what you will be reading in this post is my very own personal experience which I will be sharing with you guys!
To start it off, there are four different experiences that one can choose from.
However, due to time constraints, this particular media tour was only a brief preview of the actual tour – but no worries as the actual tour will even be tons better!
Experience 1: #Instawalk Tours by Tribe Tours ($55 per pax – and still able to receive a $20 CapitaVoucher upon completion!)
**Personal Opinion: IDEAL for people who love photography!**
It’s no wonder this tour was given the name “Instawalk” as the objective is to allow guests to see the city through new lenses, take #instaworthy photos and uncover hidden gems. This whole tour will last for 2 hours as you will be led by a tour guide who will be guiding and showcasing Singapore’s rich heritage.
At the same time, you will be able to pick up nifty instagram-worthy photo tips from a local influencer, too!
To be honest, I was feeling very excited because I am someone who love to take insta-worthy photos. With the advancement of technology nowadays, even phone cameras are able to capture amazing photos that can last for a lifetime.
The start of my #Instawalk Experience
Our first gathering point was to experience a taste of Japan at Tonkatsu Kazan Ramen @ Funan to fill our tummies with sumptuous Japanese food before embarking on the tour!)
Afterwards, we were led to meet our tour guide!
Due to covid safety measures, everyone was split into different teams. And we were each provided an earpiece so as to be able to listen to our guide loud and clear.
Our guide explaining the heritage of the building and some background history of the place. And we were given time to capture some nice photographs of the architecture!
From Funan Mall, we followed our guide to different locations and all the way to experiencing the night city @ Clarke Quay. It was really breathtaking at night! I was really tempted to take a lot more photos but as there was a tight time limitation of the preview tour, I did not have the luxury to capture some shots.
Still, I managed to take a quick one (with mask removed for that few seconds when capturing this photo) as the night scene is too beautiful to resist!
And… You can tell that I am quite a vainpot as I was wearing heels despite knowing that there would be some walking to do . (Most of the guests were wearing sports shoes…So I recommend you to come in comfortable footwear)
As we went along, we were introduced to several insta-worthy corners – So if you do have a friend who is into photography, I am sure you will be able to capture many fascinating shots back for keepsake (or showing off on social media)
After the eventful walk, we were treated to a round of delicious Greek-themed dinner at Zorba (They specialise in Greek-style food and they are all authentic cuisine!)
I have to admit I am not a fan of the style of food, but this lamb kebab suits my taste, albeit being a tad too salty.
And I accidentally ordered a glass of Aphrodite (contains Greek Gin, Lychee Liqour, Rose Syrup and Raspberry) which was quite strong in alcohol content (but I don’t really drink alcoholic drinks!) NONETHELESS, I still find the taste acceptable.
Bitter, but comes with sweetness within.
Ending this post with a happy me posing at the restaurant while making my poor photographer friend, Uncle Boo, squat down to capture this photo and creating an illusion that I have long legs.
Personal verdict: It could be just me, but I am someone who totally LOVE exploring Singapore even before the pandemic began. Hence, I truly enjoy being a tourist in my own country, and this tour has given me more insights towards some of the heritage of iconic buildings that I would never have known. This is considered an enjoyable activity to do with family and friends, given the limitations we have now. Thanks, CapitaLand for the invite!
** As I have mentioned previously, this media tour is only a preview of the actual tour, hence there were not many photos captured due to the rush of time.
But I am very sure all you insta-worthy photos-loving people will certainly enjoy the actual full tour and bring back many happy memories to look back on in the years to come!
