3) Gaming: Squid Game-Inspired Game On Roblox

If you are a Squid Game fanatic, it will be an absolute delight seeing all the references to the series. Players start at the main room that’s a pretty accurate copy of the show’s counterpart. All avatars wear that now iconic numbered teal jacket, but if you look closely, everyone’s number 1! Climb up the bunk beds, sit back and relax, or gaze longingly at that pile of cash on the ceiling.

Players have to wait five minutes or less while the previous group are playing the ‘Red Light, Green Light’ game. Once it’s your turn, you’ll go through a colourful maze-like stairway and take a picture of yourself before heading to the game hall – all familiar scenes if you’ve watch Squid Game.

4) Visit: Modern Women of the Republic: Fashion and Change in China and Singapore

Trends fade, but style is eternal. Hence, Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall traces back the history and evolution of oriental fashion in Singapore and China since the 19th century. The heritage institution delved into the semiotics between clothing, women’s status, roles and lifestyles that changed over the past century. Almost 100 artefacts and photographs of Chinese women’s clothing and accessories goes on display, with some dating 100 years old.

Happening till 12 December 2021. Admission is free for Singaporeans and PRs at Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall.

5) Explore: OUT OF SIGHT by Lawrence Weiner

Hopscotch proves to be more than a kids’ game in the hands of an artist. Specifically for Lawrence Weiner. Using the form of a giant hopscotch court and its gamification properties, he creates a pathway to be viewed and navigated, both physically and intellectually. The New York-based conceptual artist populates each square with provocative phrases that incites both wit and fun. This participatory, interactive, social ground-based work encourages learning and self-actualization as participants interpret the messages while interacting with them.

Installation pieces at National Gallery Singapore (@nationalgallerysingapore) and The Arts House (@theartshouse)!
