Wondering what to do this weekend? Here’s the SG Lifestyle Team’s weekly round-up of FREE WEEKEND ACTIVITES TO DO IN SINGAPORE (well, mostly free) as we try to adapt to a new normal while waiting for the current COVID-19 situation to improve.

This includes a mixture of virtual/digital events/activities you can do at home, as well as physical events/places to visit/attend. Nevertheless, please do your due diligence to do your part to stay safe.

Recommended Advisory Notice: Let’s play our part to Stay Safe during this period:
Wear a mask and see a doctor promptly if you are sick! ⁣⁣
Wash your hands regularly and properly using soap and water! ⁣⁣

1) Visit: Gardens by the Bay

Experience The Joy of Festival with Mickey & Friends with XM Studio’s first-ever pop-up shop at Floral Fantasy Gift Shop to mark the celebration of spring and new beginnings!

There are plenty of photo opportunities with the 4-meter tall statues display featuring your favorite Disney characters! The highlight centers around the Mickey – Year of the Tiger statue standing on a cliff of gold coins and holds up a baby tiger cub to symbolise a year of positive ambition and energy ahead.

Receive a complimentary set of Mickey and Friends themed red packs when you purchase a set of Mickey and Friends The Joy of Festival collectibles too!

2) Contest: Play and Huat with ESSO Tigers

Looking for something fun to do with your friends and family this Chinese New Year period? Challenge them to see who can tap the fastest and huat more in the ‘Huat with Esso Tigers’ game!

The person with the highest score in the comments wins $80 worth of Esso fuels vouchers! Contest ends on 28 Feb 2022, 11:59PM.

3) Visit: Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall

Considered auspicious art, Nian Hua are colourful woodblock-printed images that can be hung up at home to seek protection and blessings for the household. They often feature scenes of festive celebrations like Lunar New Year, deities and guardians like the Kitchen God, symbols of blessings like the Boy with Pomegranate, and Chinese characters like “bliss” (福) or “happiness”(喜).
Can you spot these deities, guardians and Chinese characters in the video? Come on down to Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall and learn more about Nian Hua and the different symbolisms featured at the special exhibition “Nian Hua: Of Deities, Guardians and Auspicious Art” from now till 25 Sep 2022!
