Wondering what to do this weekend? Here’s the SG Lifestyle Team’s weekly round-up of FREE WEEKEND ACTIVITES TO DO IN SINGAPORE (well, mostly free) as we try to adapt to a new normal while waiting for the current COVID-19 situation to improve.

This includes a mixture of virtual/digital events/activities you can do at home, as well as physical events/places to visit/attend. Nevertheless, please do your due diligence to do your part to stay safe.

1) Exhibition: Art Encounters by Art Outreach: Till the Last Blossom by Ashley Yeo

Art Encounters, a travelling exhibition series housed in repurposed shipping containers that opened on 17 September at Plaza Singapura.

Titled Till the Last Blossom, the exhibition is open till 24 October 2022, and features an original, site-specific paper installation and wall mural, alongside rarely-seen drawings and sculptural objects by local artist Ashley Yeo.

Visitors can look forward to:
A showcase of paper-based works that vary in scale and dimensionality, including a cascading paper installation, filigree paper cube and screen installation
A display of Yeo’s rarely exhibited pigment-on-paper drawings, and observing the artist live drawing a pastel mural on 27 September and 1 October 2022.
Meeting the artist and seeing paper-cutting demonstrations on Saturday afternoons
Making their own paper candle holders and decorative paper decals at an educational activity station

Step into the shoes of a museum curator and uncover intriguing information about Singapore’s history through a selection of artefacts from the National Museum’s collection. Enjoy a 360-degree view as you search for hidden artefacts.

5) Visit: #LAB25 Gachapon Machines at SCAPE

They dispense mini-book keychains with book excerpts and QR codes to borrow the ebooks on the NLB Mobile app. Simply show this article to the staff at MAGES Institute and get a token for a turn at the gachapon machines. Redemptions are limited to one token per person per day, while stocks last.
