Wondering what to do this weekend? Here’s the SG Lifestyle Team’s weekly round-up of FREE WEEKEND ACTIVITES TO DO IN SINGAPORE (well, mostly free) as we try to adapt to a new normal while waiting for the current COVID-19 situation to improve.

This includes a mixture of virtual/digital events/activities you can do at home, as well as physical events/places to visit/attend. Nevertheless, please do your due diligence to do your part to stay safe.

1) Visit: Countdown to Magical Moments

This holiday season, Our Tampines Hub has put together festive decorations all around to celebrate and ring in the New Year.
On top of the school holiday programmes and events this month, Tampines residents and hub visitors can also enjoy the ‘Countdown to Magical Moments’ 3-day celebration from 31 December to 2 January. Enjoy a night of spectacular fire show, fused with elements of dance, drums, breathtaking acrobatic stunts, and dynamic fireworks display at Town Square on 31 December from 10.30pm!


2) Visit: ‘Living Pictures’ at National Gallery Singapore

Browse through 150 years of photography in Southeast Asia at the National Gallery Singapore in a new exhibit that showcases a range of mediums and modes of photography, 3D displays and engaging hands-on activities.

Over 300 works are displayed from the mid-19th century until the present, captured by photographers from across the region.

3) Visit: “Secret Ingredients” Exhibition

Discover what goes behind the making of our national favourite! Put your detective skills to the test at the “Secret Ingredients” exhibition now at SAFRA Punggol and find out what makes chicken rice the way it is today. Till 8 Jan 2023 at SAFRA Punggol, Level 3.


4) Craft: Fold a paper otter using McDonald’s paper bag

Celebrating the new year with your favourite fast food? Try using the McDonald’s paper bag and turn it into a paper otter to amaze your other half or kids.


5) Craft: Make your own 2023 calendar

Make a cute desk 2023 calendar at home as you countdown to the new year.
